TK Sense^sm is a useful blood test for patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) who may begin treatment with or continue treatment with imatinib (Gleevec®). TK Sense^sm measures the level of HAAH gene expression. If imatinib (Gleevec®) down-regulates the patient's level of HAAH gene expression, the patient is likely to benefit from initial or continuing therapy with imatinib (Gleevec®). However, if imatinib (Gleevec®) fails to down-regulate the patient's level of HAAH gene expression, the patient is unlikely to benefit from initial or continuing imatinib (Gleevec®) therapy.
